There Is Always Room At The Top

An Appeal To My Friends (& Others)

I'm on a team from SFCC in this year's Relay For Life, a cancer related event to help the American Cancer Society.

Most of you know the toll cancer has taken on my friends and family, and of some of the things I've done to raise cancer awareness (see my [info]hairless_jo blog if you don't know or would like to know). It's even affected me personally.

I'm seeking sponsors for my team; a minimum donation suggested is $10, but we'll take whatever you can afford. I'm making luminaria in remembrance of my mom, my Uncle Jim, my Aunt Lois, Char and a few other people - if you'd like one made in remembrance of someone you love that's gone because of cancer, that requires a minimum of $10 donated. (If you choose this option, please earmark it for me so I know, and provide the information. I'll decorate 'em up nice on your behalf.)

Basically - please join me in supporting our team. We are a group of survivors who want to bring an end to this awful disease, and please feel free to pass this message on to anyone who might feel the same, along with my contact information.

Thanks,
~K'bou

PS: I've left this post public; if it's easier for you to post a link to this entry, please do. Love you lots!

Have a lot going on, as posted previously, so am taking a hiatus from all places I post until further notice. If you don't hear from me, don't panic. Going through a lot of transitions here. Feel free to look me up via IM.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but...

As some of you already know (namely, the ones on QOL I've spoken to so I had a place to talk openly, being asked not to here), I had a dear, dear friend here on LJ who went by the name [info]anjanel77.

Cut to spare you angst and God knows what. I don't know what kind of day you're having. )

Snip snip...

Am doing some cuts. If you're among the ones cut and would like to stay on, please contact me. I don't feel I'm connecting with some folks as much as I used to any more, and since I'm hardly here, it shouldn't matter all that much, right?

Is there anyone out there who'd be interested in a copy of The Monkees' Headquarters album, Taiwan/Australian import, on clear orange vinyl? If so, let me know what you'd be willing to pay - I have no idea after Googling it what it would be worth and I'd rather it went to someone who really wants it, than someone who is just going to turn around and sell it to someone else after paying me almost nothing for it.

I'm leaving this post public so if you are a friend of a friend of a Monkees collector, you can link them to this post. All replies screened due to price inquiries.

Thanks!

(I'm also selling a good chunk of my Monkees albums in general - a few are harder to get - so if you're interested at all, let me know and we can work things out...)

Overwhelmed!

What is there to say?

So many complications have made my goals delayed indefinitely.

I wanted to be able to work toward my goal of being moved out of here by August 1. I've looked at places and the ones that are halfway decent are currently being rented to returning college students. Besides, no cash = no move. Pretty basic, don't you think?

Have spent forever looking for the part time job that will be helpful in at least getting me where I need to be. Nothing, not even through the six temp agencies I'm signed on with. I'm not relying on them alone; I spend at least four hours a day looking for work, offline and on. It's just not happening, even with the most kickass resume I've ever written.

The relationship between Lauren and Frank is still ambiguous. Even Lauren isn't sure what it is. He's told her he will send $380 a month but I told her that she needs to see what is going on. The way it was when I checked into state aid before we lost the house, when I was trying to get out on my own, the state had me sign a paper assigning collections of support to them - it was required if I wanted benefits. And they keep all but $50 of the support (which is why, when I've got all that back support coming, I don't want to just go apply). She says his dad will have it sent to him and then he'll give it to her, but that doesn't seem to make sense. The state would start pursuing him for money but there'd be someone there saying they are already paying Nathan's support... not a good idea to try to get past the government, y'know?

I've been getting a lot of red flags about him and his family and this is one big one.

I mention the $50 thing and she says, "If they try to deny me that money from Frank, I'm going to go off welfare." Um, no. You can't afford to lose your food money, you and your son's medical care and the money they give you every month... just to get $380 a month. It's not worth it! Not with a new baby in the house. It sounds like he may be covered under Frank's Army insurance coverage, but Lauren isn't... and she can't give that up if she wants dental work done.

As was said previously, it looks like I'm going to have to break the "no attorney" agreement John and I had on the divorce, what with all the effing around he has done with our financial situation. This will go a long way toward messing up the amicable divorce I was hoping to have.

Busy busy busy.

A recap, public this time, for people elsewhere. So if you've read this in my f-locked posts, feel free to comment or not, as you wish.

+Am auditioning as a scriptwriter for a soon-to-come webcast drama for the GLBTA community. If I get the job, I'll be posting links to the episodes in my LJ as they go online. Part of my audition is to write a sex scene between two men - I'm adapting a chapter of "Yin Yang" (aka [info]pearl_n_fa) into script format for that, and for a more normal scene with dialogue as well.

+Am preparing adaptations of a number of past Queen slashes (posted here and elsewhere) for submission to yaoi publishers in hopes of selling them. The one I am focusing on the most takes submissions next month so this is keeping me quite busy. I may have a collaboration or two in progress on some of these stories (as in an artist for the manga) in my future partner-in-life, a very talented artist in the DC area.

+Recently applied for admission, and am working on acceptance to, college. I haven't attended a "real" school since 1988, so am a bit nervous. Planning on majoring in English (with an emphasis on fiction writing) and minoring in Film. *Since writing this, have been accepted!

+My grandson is due on Roger's birthday July 16th - a beautiful, healthy baby. We're down to the last 6-7 weeks until he is due, and Lamaze classes begin tomorrow.

+Working event management, very very part time, and it's an adventure. I'm sure [info]falasta knows that from her days doing it!

+Also, I know that there are people here that I didn't bring along when I left my old LJ. I wasn't sure of how things were between us, so I just didn't want to bother you. If you'd like to join me at the new one, let me know, OK? If not, it's fine... either way, the door here is open.

Blessings to the Queenies, old and new... and to my friends who've stuck with me through this crazy thing known as My Life.

~K.
